Gamesa has announced the first orders for its G114-2.0 MW turbine in India, having secured two contracts totaling 184 MW.

The first order, placed by an unidentified independent power producer, encompasses the installation of 50 of its G114-2.0 MW Class S machines at a project located in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The project will be commissioned this year.

The second order, placed by an unidentified Indian renewable energy developer, includes the supply of 42 of its G114-2.0 MW Class S turbines to a wind farm located in the state of Karnataka. That project is slated for commissioning in December.

In both cases, the turbines will be manufactured locally at the nacelle factory in Mamandur, close to Chennai, which Gamesa expanded one year ago in order to install a new production line and introduce the G114-2.0 MW into the Indian market.

With a tower height of 106 meters, this new G114-2.0 MW Class S turbine variant is designed for the low-wind-speed sites of India, according to Gamesa.
