Gamesa Reaches 1 GW O&M Milestone In Mexico

Gamesa says it now has 1 GW of wind capacity under operations and maintenance (O&M) in Mexico and expects to boost this figure by 50% by year-end 2015. The company reached the 1 GW milestone after signing a contract with Iberdrola for O&M services at the La Ventosa III wind farm, located in the state of Oaxaca.

Gamesa started up its Mexican O&M operations in 1999. The first post-warranty maintenance contract was secured in 2011 at the La Rumorosa wind farm; since then, the post-warranty services provided by the company have grown to 722 MW today.

The company says the 1 GW O&M milestone further strengthens its position in Mexico, where it supplies, installs and services wind turbines in addition to developing and on-selling wind farms. Gamesa says it has installed over 1.3 GW of its turbines in Mexico and, in its capacity as developer, has developed and commissioned 244 MW, with another 70 MW under construction and a large pipeline at varying stages of development.
