Gamesa Executive Named To EU-Sponsored Advisory Board

An executive for turbine manufacturer Gamesa has been named to the advisory board of the SafeLife-X project, an initiative aimed to identify aging effects on Europe's industrial infrastructure.

Sergio Velez, director of Gamesa's fleet life extension program, was named to the project for his knowledge of enhancing the life expectancy of wind turbines. He is the only wind industry representative involved in the project, Gamesa notes.

SafeLife-X is a European Union-sponsored initiative to establish solutions minimize the effect of aging on Europe's industrial infrastructure. By using aging analysis and structural health monitoring technologies, facility risks can be minimized and therefore, efficiency can be extended.
