FoundOcean To Pile Grout ‘World’s Largest’ Offshore Wind Turbine

0

U.K.-based FoundOcean has been awarded a contract by Graham Construction to pile grout the foundation for what it says is the world's largest offshore wind turbine, developed by Samsung Heavy Industries, in Fife, Scotland.

According to FoundOcean, this will be the first 7 MW turbine to be installed, and each blade measures over 80 meters. The project is part of the Fife Energy Park development, and grouting will take place in July.

FoundOcean will complete the project in two phases using the Exagrout material Masterflow 9500 from BASF. First, FoundOcean will grout four piles into approximately 30-meter-deep pre-drilled rock sockets. The second stage involves grouting the annuli between the jacket's stab in legs and piles, forming the connection.
