First Wind Subsidiary To Erect Met Towers In Maine

First Wind subsidiary King Pine Wind LLC is planning to erect met towers in Aroostook County, Maine, the Bangor Daily News reports.

According to the newspaper, the company submitted a request to the state's Land Use Regulation Commission (LURC) to install the met towers, which would be installed on land owned by Aroostook Timberlands, a subsidiary of Irving Woodlands LLC.

A LURC spokesperson told the Bangor Daily News that the met-tower applications have been reviewed by state agencies, but there have been no comments from the public.

The met towers are expected to be installed by the end of the year and will collect a year's worth of wind data, according to the Bangor Daily News.
