First Wind Signs Deal With Siemens For Oahu Wind Farm

First Wind says its subsidiary, Kawailoa Wind LLC, has finalized an agreement with Siemens to purchase 30 SWT-2.3-101 wind turbines for the proposed 69 MW Kawailoa Wind project.

The 69 MW project will be located on the Kawailoa Plantation lands above Haleiwa, on the north shore of Oahu. The project is scheduled to begin construction late this year.

‘The proposed Kawailoa Wind project will join our Maui-based Kaheawa Wind Power and Oahu-based Kahuku Wind project, and will further assist Hawaii in meeting its clean energy goals,’ says Paul Gaynor, CEO of First Wind.
