In recent preliminary findings, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has expressed concern that half of the wind turbines proposed for the Shaffer Mountain wind project in Pennsylvania could be hazardous to aviation, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
The FAA believes that 15 of the 404-foot wind turbines could cause obstruction and interference for aircraft at nearby airports.
Gamesa, which is developing the project, says the FAA findings will not impact development of the 66 MW project.
