EPA Names Top Renewable Energy Users

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has released a list of the organizations that are using the most renewable energy to power their operations.

Topping the list was Intel Corp., which uses more than 2.5 billion kWh of renewable energy annually, which is the equivalent of avoiding the carbon-dioxide emissions from the electricity use of more than 215,000 average U.S. homes.

Here is the list of the top 10 green power users:


  1. Intel Corp.
  2. Kohl's Department Stores
  3. Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (California and Texas facilities)
  4. Whole Foods Market
  5. Johnson & Johnson
  6. City of Houston, Texas
  7. Starbucks
  8. City of Austin, Texas
  9. Staples
  10. Hilton Worldwide
