enXco, an EDF Energies Nouvelles company, says its 205.5 MW Lakefield Wind Project, located in Jackson County, Minn., is now fully operational and supplying electricity to the regional transmission grid.
The project will deliver electricity into the Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator grid for the benefit of Indianapolis Power & Light Co.'s generation portfolio under a 20-year, 200 MW power purchase agreement.
The project consists of 137 GE 1.5 MW turbines with the capacity to generate renewable energy for more than 68,000 homes, according to enXco. Construction on the Lakefield project commenced in late September 2010 after eight years of development efforts.
The permanent financing for the project is structured as a leveraged lease with Union Bank and MetLife.
