enXco, an EDF Energies Nouvelles company, has entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Pacific Gas and Electric Co. (PG&E) for the 100 MW Shiloh IV wind project, to be built in Solano County, Calif.
According to enXco, the project represents a repowering effort to upgrade older technology, allowing for increased generation of clean energy with fewer wind turbines. Development efforts include the removal of 235 existing Kenetech 100 kW turbines; the original project was installed in 1989, with an installed capacity of 25.2 MW.
enXco will develop, build and own Shiloh IV, while PG&E will purchase the power generated under a 25-year PPA. The project, subject to the approval of the California Public Utilities Commission, is expected to meet commercial operation by the end of 2012, and will be operated and maintained by enXco Service Corp.
