enXco, an EDF Energies Nouvelles company, and KCP&L have entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) for a 100.8 MW wind energy facility to be built in Ford County, Kan., 17 miles northeast of Dodge City.
enXco will develop, build and own the Spearville 3 Wind Project, which consists of 63 GE XLE turbines, and KCP&L will buy the power generated under a 20-year PPA.
Construction is expected to begin late this quarter, and commercial operation should be achieved by the end of 2012.
