enXco, an EDF Energies Nouvelles company, and Indianapolis Power & Light Co. (IPL) held a construction ground breaking ceremony for the 205.5 MW Lakefield wind project.
The project, to be located on approximately 20,000 acres of farmland near Lakefield, Minn., is expected to be operational in fall 2011.
Developed and owned by enXco, the project consists of 137 GE 1.5 MW turbines. IPL will purchase the power generated under a 20-year power purchase agreement.
The Lakefield project represents enXco's ninth wind project developed in Minnesota. enXco will provide operations and maintenance services.
