German wind turbine manufacturer Enercon says it will employ 50 workers at a new Ontario factory that will produce electrical parts for converters and control panels.

According to the company, the 38,000 square-foot facility, located in the community of Beamsville in Ontario's Niagara region, will make up to 60 different types of electrical cabinetry for Enercon's wind turbines and solar products.

The establishment of the factory "stresses the importance of the Ontario wind market within our Canadian and international operations," says Michael Weidemann, Enercon Canada's vice president.
