California-based energy company Edison Mission Group (EMG) has given a $100,000 donation to Iowa Lakes Community College to provide funding for the Phase III addition to the Sustainable Energy Education Center/Wind Energy and Turbine Technology facility.
The new facility will serve as a model for consumers and industry professionals, as well as to engage students to explore sustainable energy feasibility and application, according to the college. Ground breaking for Phase III of the project is scheduled in conjunction with the second annual Iowa Wind Energy Association meeting on April 2.
The gift will be paid to Iowa Lakes over the next four years, and in return, EMG will receive naming rights to one of the classrooms in the new facility. Additionally, EMG will be recognized as a member of the Iowa Lakes Community College president's circle of giving.
