EMD International A/S, the developer of the windPRO software package for the design and planning of wind farms, says it has purchased a major stake of ENFOR A/S, located in the greater Copenhagen area, as part of a strategic partnership between the two companies.
ENFOR is a supplier of software and solutions for forecasting and optimization within the energy sector. The company was established in 2006 as a result of research activities related to energy systems, artificial intelligence, statistics, advanced modeling and forecasting techniques carried out at the Technical University of Denmark during the past 20 years. ENFOR offers the WPPT forecast software for predicting the energy production at wind farms.
As part of the cooperation, the companies plan to increase the sale of ENFOR's products and services internationally through EMD's global sales network. The cooperation will also focus on knowledge exchange in connection with the continued development of both companies' current product portfolios, as well as development of new joint products.
‘So far, EMD has mainly been focusing on software and consultancy services in connection with the design and planning of new wind farms, but in addition, we will soon offer a new software solution aimed at the operational phase of wind farms," explains Per Nielsen, managing director at EMD.
