Kevin Herrling of GL Garrad Hassan will take a closer look on the impact of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) during a presentation at HUSUM WindEnergy on Sept. 24. The presentation is relevant to turbine developers, engineering companies, manufacturers and operators.
EMC is the branch of electrical sciences that studies the unintentional generation, propagation and reception of electromagnetic energy with reference to the unwanted effects that such energy may induce. The goal of EMC is the correct operation, in the same electromagnetic environment, of different equipment that use electromagnetic phenomena, and the avoidance of any interference effects.
Herrling will describe the relevant standards and guidelines for electromagnetic emissions on the European level and will elaborate on the empirical results of measurements on wind turbines.
