EDP Renewables North America LLC, a subsidiary of EDP Renováveis SA (EDPR), has announced an additional power purchase agreement (PPA) to sell the energy produced from its Broadlands Wind Farm in Douglas County, Ill.
The long-term, 50 MW PPA was secured with an undisclosed company from the energy sector, says EDPR. With this new deal, the wind farm’s contracted capacity has been increased from 150 MW, as announced on May 10, to 200 MW.
The Broadlands project is expected to begin operations next year.
To date, EDPR has achieved more than 2.2 GW of long-term wind agreements in the U.S. for projects to be installed in 2016-2020, which is above its target of 1.8 GW. Since the beginning of the year in the U.S, EDPR has already secured more than 1.2 GW of new PPAs.
