EDP Renewables North America LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of EDP Renewables SA, has secured two power purchase agreements (PPAs) to sell the energy produced from its Broadlands wind project in Illinois.
The company has inked a 15-year, 50 MW PPA with an undisclosed commercial and industrial entity and a 20-year, 100 MW PPA with Indianapolis-based Wabash Valley Power Association. The project is expected to begin operations next year.
With these new arrangements, EDPR has now contracted 90% of its 3.5 GW targeted global capacity additions for the 2016-2020 period, as announced at EDP Group Capital Markets Day in May 2016.
“These PPAs enable us to guarantee clean energy, while the companies obtain stable market prices. We are very proud of our work in continuing to make strides in this area and ultimately provide our clients with sustainable energy,” says João Manso Neto, CEO of EDP Renewables.
