EDF Energies Nouvelles has acquired the 200 MW Salt Fork wind farm from Cielo Wind Power.
The Salt Fork wind farm project, which has a scope for up to 200 MW in capacity, is located in the Texas Panhandle on approximately 16,700 acres in Donley and Gray counties, Texas, roughly 45 miles east of Amarillo.
The project is expected to achieve commercial operation by the end of 2016 using Texas’ Competitive Renewable Energy Zone transmission infrastructure.
Originally developed by Cielo Wind Power, the Salt Fork project is due to be commissioned in late 2016. The electricity generated by the first 150 MW of Salt Fork will be sold to Garland Power & Light under a long-term power purchase agreement.
The acquisition of Salt Fork pushes EDF’s Texas wind portfolio beyond 1 GW.Â
