EDF Energy Renewables has announced that Siemens will supply 2.3 MW wind turbines while Van Oord will provide the balance-of-plant services for EDF's Teesside offshore wind project, proposed for off the coast of England.
Work began on the 27-turbine wind farm in November 2010. Power production from the 62 MW wind farm, which will be 1.5 km from the shore, is planned for late 2012. When the project is commissioned, approximately 12 permanent positions will be based in the nearby operations facility.
EDF Energy Renewables is managing the construction of the wind farm from its Wilton office, some three miles from the site. Stokesley-based offshore consulting firm MPI Consultants has been appointed as management contractor for the project.
