EDF EN Canada Obtains Authorization To Begin Wind Project Construction

EDF EN Canada Inc. has obtained authorization from the government of Quebec to construct and operate the 80 MW Saint-Robert-Bellarmin wind project.

With an investment of approximately C$200 million, the project is expected to create about 100 jobs during the construction phase and five permanent operation and maintenance jobs. Construction is expected to begin in the next few weeks.

REpower will supply 40 wind turbines rated at 2 MW each. A significant amount of content is expected to be manufactured locally, according to EDF EN Canada. LM Wind will supply the blades from its Gaspesie plant, towers will be produced at the Marmen Matane plant and SEG Woodward will contribute the electrical converters from New Richmond.

EDF EN Canada Inc. and Borea Construction have signed a limited notice to proceed for the construction of the project. According to the terms of this agreement, Borea Construction will begin the study and preparatory work for construction.
