Through a two-year pilot program from the Office of the Ohio Consumers' Counsel and Charlotte, N.C.-headquartered Duke Energy, the utility's customers can now enroll in a green energy program called GoGreen.
Customers who sign up for GoGreen will pay a $0.025 per kWh premium and commit to supporting a minimum of 200 kWh of green power each month, Duke Energy says. Consumers can also choose to support a greater amount of electricity from renewable energy.
In support of the program, Duke Energy plans to purchase renewable energy credits in and around Ohio.
