DTE Energy has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for approximately 100 MW of renewable energy from Michigan-based wind power projects that will be in operation by the end of 2013.
To meet the state's renewable energy goals, DTE Energy expects to add about 1 GW of renewable energy by 2015. The company plans to own facilities to supply up to half of that power and contract with third-party producers for the rest.
The majority of the company's renewable energy will come from wind power, but it also has a solar energy pilot program that could produce approximately 20 MW. The utility's renewable energy capacity under contract is about 7% of total generation.
The deadline for proposals is June 7. Potential bidders can view the requirements of the RFP here.
