DONG Energy Signs Workboat Deal For 580 MW Race Bank Offshore Project

DONG Energy and Seacat Services, a U.K.-based vessel operator supporting the offshore energy industry, have confirmed a two-year, four-workboat deal to support construction of the 580 MW Race Bank offshore wind farm, located about 16.8 miles off Blakeney Point on the North Norfolk coast of the U.K.

All 91 turbines at Race Bank are expected to be fully commissioned by 2018. Seacat says it is providing workboats to transport technicians to the site.

The operator’s DNV-GL 1A1 HSLC R1 Service 1 vessels, all built locally on the Isle of Wight by South Boats, are able to deliver large cargo payloads at high speed, according to Seacat.

“Our work with DONG Energy on Race Bank over the coming months will enable us to channel further investment into the local supply chain by providing opportunities for local crew and supporting services,” explains Ian Baylis, managing director of Seacat Services.
