DNV, a global provider of risk-management services to the wind industry, has released an updated standard for offshore wind turbines. The new standard, ‘The Design of Offshore Wind Turbine Structures’ (DNV-OS-J101), aims to reduce cost and increase safety, according to the company.
The DNV-OS-J101 provides principles, technical requirements and guidance for the design, construction and in-service inspection of offshore wind turbines. This is the third revision of the standard and the updated document has been through a peer review process involving industry experts in addition to DNV's internal quality-review process.
