Direct Energy Business is launching the Event Greening Program, which will enable event planners, and conference and meeting organizers in Alberta and Ontario to offset the environmental impact of the energy usage at their events by making them carbon neutral.
The Event Greening Program allows event planners and conference organizers to make the energy used at events carbon neutral with renewable energy certificates (RECs) or carbon offsets equivalent to the amount of electricity or natural gas used at their event.
These RECs come from EcoLogo-certified generation facilities, such as wind or low-impact hydro.
Direct Energy Business works with the Direct Energy Centre to create customized programs to provide RECs for trade and consumer shows and events at their facility. Its first customer was the Interior Design Show held at the Direct Energy Centre at Exhibition Place.
As part of the Event Greening Program, Direct Energy Business will assist event organizers and meeting planners to promote its event as supporters of sustainable energy with messaging and branding support, communication with attendees both before and after the event, and additional marketing and public relations support.
