DeWind Co., a wholly owned subsidiary of Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. (DSME), has been awarded a contract to supply five wind turbines to the 10 MW Wind Energy Institute of Canada (WEICan) research site on Prince Edward Island, Canada.

DeWind will provide five of its new D9.2 wind turbines from Round Rock, Texas-based assembly contractor TECO-Westinghouse.

Towers will be built and furnished by DSTN, a joint venture between DSME and the Province of Nova Scotia intended for the manufacture of towers and blades for the wind industry.

The WEICan site is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year.
