Silver Spring, Md.-based CPV Renewable Energy Co. has executed a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for 200 MW from CPV's Ashley wind energy project in McIntosh County, N.D.
Permitting for the project has already begun, and CPV will construct and operate the wind farm, which is expected to start producing power in 2012. CPV Ashley was one of the renewable energy projects selected from more than 60 responses to a TVA request for proposals issued in December 2008.
This is the second PPA announced by CPV in the past month, the company adds. In September, CPV and Oklahoma Gas & Electric Co. agreed to a 152 MW PPA from CPV's Keenan wind farm in northwest Oklahoma, which is expected to be commercially operational in late 2010.
