Construction Is Complete At Vantage Wind Farm In Washington State

Invenergy and Gemma Renewable Power have announced the completion of construction for the Vantage Wind Farm, located near Ellensburg, Wash. This is the second project completed together and the first wind project for each company in the state of Washington. The 90 MW project consists of 60 1.5 MW GE SLE wind turbines.

The project entailed construction of 18 miles of roads, 22 miles of underground electrical collection system, 3.2 miles of transmission line and a new substation.

During turbine erection earlier this year, the project was kept on schedule despite an abnormally robust wind season, according to Gemma Renewable Power.

The site team worked with Local 303 Operating Engineers and Local 86 Ironworkers early in the project to develop an intensive technical and safety training program specifically tailored for the erection work.

The site crews are now focused on final testing and commissioning of the plant so that Invenergy can start delivering power to Pacific Gas & Electric Co.
