Construction Begins On Quebec Wind Project

A groundbreaking ceremony was held to mark the start of construction on the first phase of the Seigneurie de Beaupre wind project in Quebec, which is expected to have an installed capacity of 272 MW.

Located on the private lands of the Seminaire de Quebec, the first phase of the project will include 126 turbines and is being developed by Gaz Metro and Boralex Inc.

More than C$700 million is expected to be invested in the first phase, with at least 60% of that amount being spent in Quebec, according to the companies. The project is scheduled to begin operating in late 2013.
