Representatives from Oklahoma Gas & Electric (OG&E) and the University of Oklahoma (OU) have broken ground on the state's newest wind farm. The start of the 101 MW OU Spirit project marks an important milestone in OU's commitment to using 100% renewable energy by 2013.

‘OG&E shares OU's long-term commitment to developing Oklahoma's resources,’ says Pete Delaney, OG&E's president, chairman and CEO. ‘Working with state officials and public and private partners, our plan is to make Oklahoma a national leader in renewable energy for the benefit of all of our customers.’

OU Spirit will feature 44 Siemens 2.3 MW turbines. Following foundation work this spring, turbines will be assembled at the site beginning in August.
