Constellation NewEnergy, a subsidiary of Baltimore-based Constellation Energy, has entered into a purchase agreement for renewable energy with HMSHost Corp., a company that creates restaurants and shops in travel venues throughout North America.

As part of the agreement, Constellation NewEnergy will secure approximately 6 million kWh of Green-e certified renewable energy credits (RECs) to match 50% of the electricity used at the company's three travel plazas located along I-95 in Delaware and Maryland.

About 13 million customers visit the Chesapeake, Md., and Delaware House plazas annually. The RECs will directly support the operation of wind energy.
