Constellation Energy, title sponsor of the Senior Players Championship, says the golf event will be the first PGA TOUR or Champions Tour event to be powered fully by renewable energy. Now in its 25th year, the Senior Players Championship will be held at the Baltimore Country Club in Timonium, Md., in October.
‘The Constellation Energy Senior Players Championship represents a unique opportunity for us to demonstrate our company-wide commitment to the most environmentally friendly energy solutions and to showcase the many renewable products and services we can offer to our customers,’ says Mayo Shattuck, chairman, president and CEO of Constellation Energy.
Constellation Energy's retail electric supply business, Constellation NewEnergy, will purchase an estimated 100 MWh of renewable energy credits to offset energy consumption at the clubhouse. Additionally, on-site biodiesel generators will power all facilities throughout the course, and all plastic and cardboard generated from course concessions and tournament materials will be recycled.
