Constellation Energy Commodities Group Inc., a wholesale origination and risk management subsidiary of Baltimore-based Constellation Energy, has signed a second long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Horizon Wind Energy, a company owned by Energias de Portugal, for power produced at the Twin Groves wind farm outside of Bloomington, Ill.
According to Constellation Energy, the agreement covers approximately 99 MW, representing roughly half of the generating capacity produced by 120 turbines at Twin Groves I. The 18-year contract will run through 2025. Twin Groves I commenced operations in April 2007.
On July 25, the companies entered into a similar 18-year agreement for the entire 198 MW to be produced by 120 turbines at Twin Groves II.
