The Ontario Power Authority has approved 401 Energy Ltd.'s feed-in-tariff (FIT) program application to construct a 100 MW community wind farm on 4,500 acres in Melancthon, Ontario. 401 Energy offers a 51%-49% ownership stake to participating community-based projects.
The project will involve the erection of 40 turbines and the installation of new power lines capable of carrying 100 MW of power. It is expected to be completed in 2011.
