Commercial Wind Power Poised To Make Entrance In Connecticut

The Connecticut Siting Council conducted a straw poll this week that resulted in a 6-1 vote in favor of a small commercial wind project in Colebrook, Conn.

BNE Energy Inc. is seeking to install six turbines in the small Litchfield County town. The straw poll reflected the approval of three 492-foot wind turbines at one site. Another straw poll will take place next week to address the other three turbines, which are planned to be installed at a nearby site.

The siting council, which recently rejected BNE Energy's plans for a two-turbine installation in Prospect, Conn., is scheduled to make its final vote on the first phase of the Colebrook project next week.
