Chevron Global Power Co., a Houston-based division of Chevron U.S.A. Inc., has announced the start-up of its first wholly owned commercial wind farm with a 16.5 MW facility located on 880 acres in Natrona County, near Casper, Wyo.
Chevron Global Power Co. and general contractor Signal Wind Energy LLC began construction on the facility in June and completed the project within its six-month schedule. The facility consists of 11 1.5 MW GE wind turbines and includes a power collection system and interconnect substation that will tie into existing high-power transmission lines that traverse the property.
Power generated from the facility will be sold to and distributed by PacifiCorp under a multiyear power purchase agreement, the company adds.
