Monterrey, Mexico-based CEMEX says it has completed the installation of 167 wind turbines at the 250 MW EURUS wind farm, located in Juchitan, Oaxaca, Mexico.
EURUS is a joint venture between CEMEX and developer/manufacturer ACCIONA. Part of the energy generated by EURUS will supply approximately 25% of CEMEX's energy needs in its Mexican cement plants. ACCIONA financed, constructed and manages the wind farm.
The installation of wind turbines in the park was initiated in July 2008, and the wind turbines were connected to the electrical grid in February 2009. CEMEX says the development will be operational by the end of this year.
EURUS is located in Juchitan, in a southern Mexican region renown for its wind resources.
