Huisman has signed a contract with Cadeler for the design and production of a monopile gripper, marking the seventh overall gripper produced by the company.
The gripper has 13-meter diameter, which the company says is engineered for the installation of monopiles up to 120 meters long, and can be entirely stored on deck with the aim of facilitating future maintenance procedures.
The contract also includes an option for the integration of a noise mitigation system, to minimize the impact of noises on sea life.
“This new contract with Huisman solidifies our strategic commitment and collaboration in pushing the boundaries of what’s possible as we prepare for the future of offshore wind farm construction,” says Mikkel Gleerup, CEO of Cadeler. “If we are to reach our global goals for renewable offshore wind energy, we will need cutting-edge technologies and scale, which our strengthened partnership embodies.”
The gripper, a first for Cadeler, is expected to play a role in delivering on the Hornsea Three Foundation project.
Production of the monopile gripper will take place at Huisman’s China production facility.
