Broadwind Energy Celebrates Opening Of Drivetrain Service Center In Abilene

f gte mso 9]> Normal 0 Broadwind Energy Inc. celebrated the opening of its wind turbine drivetrain service center in Abilene, Texas, where the company will integrate engineering, disassembly, clean assembly and 3 MW full-load testing of wind turbine gearboxes with 500 MW of annual throughput capability.

The new center is expected to employ about 60 people at full capacity. The facility once served as a Lockheed Martin manufacturing plant. The renovated and expanded facility represents a $7 million investment by Broadwind Energy.

In addition to a full set of gearbox services, the center will provide blade services and operations and maintenance services to the wind energy industry.
