The Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) may back off of plans to start curtailing wind production in order to accommodate power from hydro projects, The Oregonian reports.
BPA Administrator Steve Wright says he is still reviewing the plan to cut back production from wind farms in the region in order to maintain grid reliability, protect migrating salmon and avoid passing costs on to utility customers.
Wind developers say possible shutdowns are discriminatory, will breach transmission agreements and compromise wind farm economics.
The capacity of wind farms connected to the BPA's transmission is about 2,500 MW and is expected to double in the next two years.
