Bluewater Wind Presents Plan To Commission

Maryland's Washington County Board of County Commissioners recently heard proposals from two companies that want to help with the county's green energy needs.

Curtis Engine and Equipment Inc. wants to generate energy from methane gas, while Bluewater Wind is looking to develop an offshore wind project. The company's proposal calls for the construction of wind turbines off Maryland's eastern shore, about 12 miles from Ocean City.

David Blazer, project director for the wind project, described the company's similar endeavor in Delaware. He also presented data showing locations for viable wind power production.

Blazer also emphasized that a number of county governments would need to provide long-term agreements for the purchase of the wind-generated power in order for the Maryland project to come to fruition, according to the commission.
