A fund managed by BlackRock Infrastructure Investment Group has purchased a 90% interest in an 80 MW wind portfolio, owned by RPM Access LLC, consisting of the 42.5 MW Elk and 37.5 MW Hawkeye wind projects.

The Iowa-based wind projects – which began commercial operation in December 2011 and October 2012 – comprise 32 of Nordex's 2.5 MW wind turbines.

According to BlackRock, the 72 MW portfolio interconnects with the ITC Midwest transmission system within the Midcontinent Independent System Operator market. All of the output has been sold to Central Iowa Power Cooperative under long-term power purchase agreements.

When the deal closes, Blackrock will have completed 17 renewable power investments to date, bringing the total invested and committed portfolio to approximately 1.3 GW of wind and 178 MW of solar projects in the U.S., Canada, Ireland, the U.K., Sweden and France.
