A fund managed by BlackRock's Infrastructure Investment Group has purchased a 50% interest in EDF Renewable Energy's 200 MW Hereford Wind Project, located in Deaf Smith County, Texas.
According to EDF, the Hereford project will interconnect to the recently completed Competitive Renewable Energy Zone transmission infrastructure that enables delivery of power from the strong renewable resource regions of West Texas to the rest of the state.
The Hereford project comprised a total of 104 turbines manufactured by GE and Vestas. EDF Renewable Services will continue to provide ongoing operations and maintenance services for the facility, including 24/7 remote monitoring from operations control center.
BlackRock and EDF Renewable Energy have also signed agreements to enter into similar partnerships on the 200 MW Longhorn and 194 MW Spinning Spur 3 wind projects that will each be completed later this year.
