Beethoven Wind LLC, a subsidiary of San Diego-based developer BayWa r.e. Wind, is now producing power in Charles Mix, Bon Homme and Hutchinson counties, S.D.
The 79.55 MW wind farm, which is powered by 43 GE 1.85-87 MW turbines, was completed May 28, according to Florian Zerhusen, BayWa r.e. Wind's president and CEO. Project construction began in 2014 under B&H Wind, which sold the wind farm to BayWa r.e. Wind last year. Zerhusen says the balance sheet-funded project also features an off-take agreement with NorthWestern Energy.
GE is providing operations and maintenance support through a 10-year service agreement. This is the first turbine supply agreement signed between GE and the developer.
‘The community has been a strong supporter of this project, and BayWa is honored to have been given the opportunity to work with the local developer and community to build a solid project that will benefit the region for the next 20 years,’ says Zerhusen.
