Bechtel has been selected by ATCO Electric to provide project and construction management services for the Hanna Regional Transmission Development Project, located in Alberta, Canada. The project will expand and upgrade ATCO's electrical transmission system in the southeastern part of the province.
Bechtel will manage project and construction services for approximately 250 miles of new and existing transmission lines, new substations and upgrades to existing substations.
The new facilities will enable the interconnection of wind generation as well as supply electricity to pipelines and other industrial developments, according to Bechtel.
Bechtel, along with its Canadian affiliate Bantrel, will perform project planning, project management and procurement services. Construction of the project is expected to begin this summer, with completion planned for spring 2013.
