BayWa r.e. Wind LLC has acquired a series of legacy wind projects located in Palm Springs, Calif.
The projects are consolidated in Coachella Wind LLC, which is wholly owned by the company. The more than 500 turbines were built in the 1980s and generate about 70 GWh annually.
Notably, BayWA says it is already in the process of retrofitting the wind turbines to qualify for the federal production tax credit.
Florian Zerhusen, CEO of BayWa r.e. Wind LLC notes that the company is currently looking to sign short-term off-take contracts with both utilities and corporate purchasers.
