Toronto-based Stonemill Bakehouse has presented eight climate change solutions in its goal to become a carbon-neutral operation, including sourcing 100% of its electricity from low-impact hydroelectric and wind energy.
‘Our commitment to developing healthy and delicious breads made with ingredients you can actually pronounce includes our environmental responsibility in the baking of these breads,’ says Stonemill President Gottfried Boehringer. ‘We strive for excellence in all that we do, and we are actively seeking cooperation and partnerships with like-minded Ontario farmers, to help bring us closer to becoming a carbon-neutral operation.’
The company's green program began last year when Stonemill commissioned an environmental impact study to identify and prioritize green initiatives that would have the greatest impact to reduce its carbon footprint.
