Denmark-based safety equipment and services provider Avanti Wind Systems says its training facilities now meet Global Wind Organization (GWO) standards for working-at-height, the standard that applies to technicians working on wind turbines.
According to Avanti, the certification covers basic safety training for onshore and offshore wind activities and is a first step in GWO compliance. The company notes other GWO certifications will follow later this year.
The objective of the GWO is to support an injury-free work environment for the construction and operation of onshore and offshore wind turbines. According to the GWO, the organization is working with most of the wind turbine manufacturers and larger wind farm owners in Europe and the U.S.
