AREVA has joined the Offshore Wind Development Coalition (OffshoreWindDC). Through this membership, AREVA reinforces its commitment to the North American offshore wind power market, according to the company.
‘We are pleased to join the coalition and collaboratively develop solutions to the unique challenges facing offshore wind development,’ says Steven Cuevas, director of offshore wind business development at AREVA North America.
AREVA plans on establishing a major U.S. industrial footprint to domestically source the 3,500 components in its 5 MW offshore wind turbines.
OffshoreWindDC was founded in 2010 by seven offshore wind developers, along with its affiliate, the American Wind Energy Association. OffshoreWindDC anticipates that its membership base will include turbine manufacturers, cable suppliers, vessel operators, marine installation companies, resource assessment and geotechnical and geophysical firms, environmental and permitting consultants, and law firms.
